TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo Head Softball Coach
Jessica Bracamonte has signed a two-year contract extension through the 2026-27 season, Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair announced on Thursday.
Bracamonte has quickly turned around the Toledo program. After inheriting a team that won just five Mid-American Conference games in 2022, she has led the Rockets to a .500 or higher winning percentage in conference games in each of her first two seasons, including a 15-10 mark in 2024.
"We are very excited to extend Coach Bracamonte's contract," said Blair. "Jessica has worked hard to elevate Toledo softball on the field, in the classroom and within the Toledo community. She has been a great leader for the young women within her program. We are grateful to have Coach Bracamonte leading our softball team to new heights."
Bracamonte led the Rockets to the 2024 Mid-American Conference Softball Championship Tournament, their first berth since 2019. Bracamonte also helped guide the Rockets to a program-best batting average of .304 while two student-athletes earned All-MAC honors and another was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team. In her first season leading the program, two Rockets garnered all-conference honors while pitcher
Erin Hunt earned the MAC Medal of Excellence for outstanding achievement in athletics, academics and leadership.
Bracamonte's teams have excelled off the field as well. In 2023, the Rockets recorded a 3.732 GPA, the sixth best among all Division I programs and posted a 3.704 GPA in 2024. Sixteen student-athletes were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athlete list while a program-best five earned College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors and 10 were placed on the Academic All-MAC team. In 2023, 13 Rockets were named to the Academic All-MAC team and four were placed on the CSC Academic All-District team.
In the community, Bracamonte's team totaled 508 volunteer hours and received the Rocket Award for Community Service. The softball program has worked alongside various organizations within the Toledo community, including Connecting Kids to Meals, the Wounded Warrior Project and the Girl Scouts of Northwest Ohio. Before the 2024-25 school year, the Rockets partnered with Team Impact to have Kelsie join the Toledo softball family. Â
"These first two years at Toledo have been a dream come true in so many ways and I feel extremely blessed for the opportunity to continue this journey as a Rocket," said Bracamonte. "My staff, our alumni, and current players are to thank for the success we've had on and off the field, as well as the exciting future that is ahead for us. I am incredibly thankful to President Matt Schroeder, Bryan Blair and (Senior Associate AD for Business & Financial Operations) Jenn Koebel for their support and belief in me to continue leading this program. Bryan's vision for this department is special and I am honored to be a part of it. Go Rockets!"
