KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Senior Hanamichi Carvajal led the way for the Toledo men's tennis team at the Mid-American Fall Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. as he reached the Flight A singles championship match.

The Flight A singles was made up of the 12 best singles players in the conference. Carvajal took down three-straight league opponents from Western Michigan, Buffalo and UIC before falling in straight sets to Western Michigan's Anton Arzhankin in the championship match.

Sophomore Cole Cozens competed in the Flight B singles and took home the championship. Cozens defeated opponents from Buffalo and Western Michigan. Cozens took down Buffalo's Clement Mainguy in a third-set tiebreaker to clinch the flight championship.

Junior Matias Olivero picked up his first singles win of the fall slate in the Flight C singles, winning in three sets over Ball State's Jenson Bicanic.

"I always feel the same when this tournament ends: we have a lot of things to improve on, and we will," said Head Coach Al Wermer. "This group has big upside. We're very proud of Hanamichi and Cole for leading the way this weekend."

UP NEXT
Toledo will conclude its fall season by hosting the Zach Barden Invitational on Nov. 15-17 at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
