Taylor Alt Named MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo women's volleyball outside hitter Taylor Alt has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. This marks Alt's first scholar-athlete honor of the season.

The fifth year senior owns a 3.928 GPA as a speech language pathology major. Alt earned CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-MAC honors the last two seasons.

Alt became the MAC's all-time kills leader on Thursday night with a 20-kill performance in a 3-1 win at Akron. The Ottawa, Ohio native is the first player in both MAC and Toledo history to tally 2,000 kills. Alt recorded 28 total kills on the weekend and added in 10 digs and four blocks to go along with the career honor.

Alt ranks third in the league in total kills (291) and kills per set (3.73). The outside hitter is third on the NCAA Division I Active Kill Leaders list with 2,001 career kills.

The MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. Each week schools are asked to nominate one female and one male among the sports that are in season at the time. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
