Six-time All-American joins Toledo’s coaching ranks
TOLEDO, Ohio – Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Andrea Grove-McDonough announced the addition of Devin Quinn as an assistant coach to the University of Toledo Track and Field program. Quinn will work primarily with sprinters.
Quinn was a student-athlete on the track and field team at the University of Illinois where he was a six-time All-American, five in outdoor competition and one in indoor competition. Quinn is the fastest man in Big Ten history, clocking a time of 10.01 in the 100m dash at the 2019 NCAA Semifinal. He also holds the Illinois school record in both the indoor and outdoor 100m and 200m.
"Bringing someone of the caliber and experience of Coach Devin to Toledo really feels like the final piece of the puzzle," said Grove-McDonough. "In just his first week on campus I can already see the high-level of focus, attention to detail, and professionalism he brings to this event group. It has always been important to me to surround ourselves and our program with coaches who know what winning looks like and feels like from the inside. Devin is the fastest sprinter to ever run in the Big Ten Conference and during his professional career he was ranked as high as 33rd and 34th in the world in the 100m and 200m. That's exciting for our power and speed group to be around someone of that caliber and to have the opportunity to learn from him."
A Punta Gorda, Fla. native, Quinn earned the IAAF ninth-fastest 60m time in the world in 2021 with a time of 6.54. He was also tabbed the IAAF 21st world ranking in 2019 for the 100m.
Quinn most recently served as an assistant track and field coach at Clarke University where he helped achieve the best men's and women's team performances in program history as well as assisted in breaking 12 school records. He also coached high school track and field, earning a third-place finish in the 2023 Ohio Indoor State Meet and helping student-athletes break multiple school records in the 60m, 200m, 400m and pole vault.
Quinn graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in recreation, sport and tourism.
