TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo Athletic Department will take part in the Rocket Spring Festival in Centennial Mall and numerous community volunteer activities as part of UToledo's 419 Day on Wednesday, April 19.Â
419 Day takes its name from the area code 419 that is commonly used in the Toledo area. In recent years, it has been marked as an unofficial holiday in the Toledo area to celebrate and support our community.
The Rocket Spring Festival will begin at 5:00 p.m. and include local food trucks selling their popular dishes, music entertainment, and fun games and activities provided by SuperGames. The festival will begin shortly after UToledo President Gregory Postel delivers his third State of the University Address at 3:00 p.m. in Doermann Theatre in University Hall.
As part of the festival, a pep rally will take place at 6:30 p.m. in front of Thompson Student Union and feature cheerleaders, dance teams, mascots and Rocket student-athletes. Fans can also take photos with the Rockets' Mid-American Conference championship trophies which will be on display.
A fireworks show will cap off the festival and begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
In addition to participating in the Rocket Spring Festival, Rocket student-athletes, coaches and staff will be involved in several volunteer community activities on 419 Day.Â
