TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo junior
Madeline Vining earned Mid-American Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Wednesday.
The Toledo, Ohio native highlighted the Toledo women's track & field distance runners at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic on Saturday. Vining set the school record in the 3000m with a time of 9:16.87, surpassing Toledo Hall of Famer Brianna Shook who previously set the record at 9:23.90 in 2003.
Vining's 3000m time ranks first in the MAC and 5th in the NCAA DI Great Lakes Region.
This is Vining's first career weekly conference honor.
The Rockets will compete this weekend at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 3-4.
