TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo Head Women's Golf CoachÂ
Jenny Coluccio announced the signings ofÂ
Brooklyn Millard (Aurora, Ohio) and
Emily Young (Tecumseh, Ont.) to National Letters of Intent on Thursday. The duo will begin attending the University of Toledo in the 2024-25 academic year.
"We are extremely excited to have Brooklyn and Emily join our program," Coluccio said. "We have a large and impactful class graduating in the spring and replacing our five seniors' legacy and experience level will be a challenge. Brooklyn and Emily are two young women who can help us do that and take our program even further."
Millard was one of the top players in Ohio during her prep career. She is a three-time first-team all-state honoree and finished as the runner-up in the state tournament as a sophomore with a one-under-par 139. Millard also shined in amateur events by capturing medalist honors at the 2022 USGA Women's Amateur qualifier and the 2023 PGA Junior Championship qualifier. She registered a 67.3 stroke average in 2023 and has played in over 500 junior tournaments after beginning to compete in them at the age of five.
"Brooklyn is a dynamic player with a dynamic personality," Coluccio said. "Her best qualities are her passion and desire to prove herself both on and off the course. She brings a tenacity and energy in the way she plays that is contagious. We are looking forward to welcoming Brooklyn to campus next fall."
Millard is equally as excited to join the Rockets' program.
"I've been looking forward to playing golf in college for years now and finally being given the chance to play in college has motivated me to work hard," Millard said. "I felt at home after meeting Coach and the other players on the team and felt that Toledo is where I want to be. I couldn't be more excited to finally be a part of a team that I can be close and competitive with and still feel like part of a family. It means the world to have this opportunity and I'm so thankful that I was given this chance. Being a part of this team will make college life a little easier knowing that I am in an environment that makes me feel safe and comfortable."

Young has competed in several prestigious events during her amateur career, highlighted by the 2022 U.S. Kids World Teen Championship in Pinehurst, N.C. She also participated in the 2022 Ontario Provincial Super Camp and Tour that featured the top 25 female golfers in Ontario as well as the CJGA Mizuno National Junior Golf Championship. Young also placed second at the Barton Hills and Pheasant Run Junior Challenge and fourth at the Midwest Championship as part of the Top 50 Junior Tour.
Â
"We are welcoming a great person to our program in Emily," Coluccio said. "She is an all-around athlete and is very internally driven to compete in anything that she sets her mind to. Emily has a strategic way of thinking and playing the game that will complement her teammates well. "
Young is thankful to be joining the Rockets' program as well.

"I couldn't be more excited to be a Rocket and continue my career at the University of Toledo," Young said. I'm very thankful for the opportunity as I truly believe Toledo, Inverness, and Coach Coluccio will help me reach my goals. The team is very welcoming and academically I know I will be challenged as well."
