Ra'Heim Moss scores game-high 19 points and Tyler Cochran contributes double-double
FINDLAY, Ohio – Junior Ra'Heim Moss scored a team-high 19 points and junior Tyler Cochran registered a double-double (16 points, 10 reb.) to spark the Toledo men's basketball team to a 95-70 exhibition victory at Findlay on Sunday afternoon in Niekamp Arena. The contest raised more than $2,700 which will all be donated towards the Red Cross in support of the victims of the wildfires that ravaged the island of Maui in Hawaii.
Cochran, who played just nine games last year due to injury, was pleased with his performance as he works to get back into peak shape.
"I've been waiting to get back playing since January and felt like my time is coming," said Cochran. "I just wanted to get out there and contribute and help the team in any aspect."
Junior Dante Maddox Jr. and freshman Sam Lewis also scored in double digits with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
The Rockets shot 60.9 percent for the game, including a robust 72.7 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
UT combined its red-hot shooting with a strong defensive effort that forced the Oilers into 21 turnovers. "We played well defensively," Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk said. "We're playing physical without fouling and our ball pressure was a big key for us."
Toledo will open its 2023-24 campaign at home on Monday, Nov. 6 against Detroit Mercy. Tip-off time in Savage Arena is set for 7:00 p.m.
Single-game and season tickets for men's basketball are on sale now. For more information or to purchase season tickets, visit the Rocket Athletic Ticket Office at the Sullivan Athletic Complex in Savage Arena, contact the Rocket Athletic Ticket Office at 419-530-GOLD (4653) or go online to UTRockets.com/tix.
