Toledo Tops Eastern Michigan, 3-0, for Fourth-Straight Win

Rockets match program record of four consecutive shutouts in Thursday’s victory over Eagles

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team extended its winning streak to a season-high four games and tied a school record with its fourth consecutive shutout with a 3-0 victory over Eastern Michigan on Thursday evening at Paul Hotmer Field. The Rockets, now 7-5-2, 4-2-1 in MAC play, scored twice in the opening half and added one more goal in the second half to send the Eagles home in defeat.

Sophomore Kaema Amachree and junior Mia Leonetti found the back of the net for Toledo in the first 10 minutes of the game. Amachree's goal came in the fifth minute, followed by Leonetti at the nine-minute mark giving the Rockets a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. Senior Madison Medalle guided the ball between four EMU defenders and scored in the 84th minute to push Toledo ahead 3-0. UT's defense held off for the final six minutes to secure its third-straight home victory.

Thursday's victory is the sixth shutout for redshirt freshman goalkeeper Brielle Young (fifth solo and one combined).

"I am very proud of the girls tonight," head coach Mark Batman said. "We are excited for them and their growth. We need to respond on Sunday against Miami and we feel confident we can do that."
