Toledo earns second-straight home win; Sornlaksup extends singles winning streak to 25 matches

"We didn't have a good continuity in practice this week -- just a lot of logistics, a snow day, and other things," head coach Al Wermer said. "But the guys were super prepared anyway. Defeating the 2022 Horizon League champions is very encouraging."
Toledo started off strong in doubles play with a quick 6-1 victory from Pawit Sornlaksup and Krzysztof Wetoszka at the No. 1 court. Vlad Meluta and Luis Kleinschnitz clinched the doubles team point for the Rockets with a 6-1 decision from the No. 3 court.
The Rockets did not let up in singles play, taking five of the six courts in two sets. Wetoszk tallied the first singles win from the No. 2 position, followed by Sornlaksup at the top court, and clinched by Marko Galic at the No. 4 court. Meluta forced a third set decision after losing his opening set 1-6 from the No. 6 court and won the second set 7-6(2). Meluta put the match away with a 10-6 super tiebreaker final.
Sornlaksup's win extended his singles winning streak to 25 matches, while Galic now has won his last 11-straight match.
Toledo will be back on the court next Saturday, Feb. 4 as it visits IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.
