CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Toledo football team has been picked to finish in second place in the West Division of the Mid-American Conference by the members of the league's media contingent. The annual preseason poll was released today at the conference's annual Football Media Day held at the House of Blues in Downtown Cleveland. Defending MAC champion Northern Illinois was picked to win the West Division. Miami was chosen as the East Division champion.
The Rockets received nine first-place votes and 120 total points in the poll, just two points behind NIU (122 points, 11 first-place votes). Toledo also received six votes to win the 2021 MAC Championship Game, second-most behind Northern Illinois' nine votes.
Toledo was 7-6 in 2021 and earned its fifth bowl berth under Head Coach
