TOLEDO, Ohio – Gabby Han has joined the Toledo women's swimming and diving program as its diving coach, head coach Brie Globig announced Friday.
"I am thrilled to have Gabby Han join our coaching staff," Globig said. "Her passion for coaching and diving is very evident and she aligns with our team's culture and principles. We look forward to having her in Toledo."
Han comes to Toledo from Wayne State, where she served as the diving coach for the 2021-22 season. In her inaugural year with the Warriors, four divers advanced to NCAA Prequalifications with Mikaela Senkus earning two All-American certificates after placing third on the one-meter board and 11th on the three-meter board. Marissa Woida attained Honorable Mention All-American status in the one-meter diving competition.
"I am honored to be named the new diving coach at the University of Toledo and I'm excited to have the opportunity to take this team to new heights," Han said. "You get a really strong sense of the meaning of team here and I am eager to work with Brie; I anticipate us achieving great things."
Han has also spent time at Kalamazoo College as a volunteer assistant diving coach in 2014-15Â and was a volunteer diving coach at Michigan in 2015-16 and 2017-18. Outside of college athletics, she was the head diving coach at Club Wolverine for six years following stints with the West Michigan Diving Academy and the New Mexico Dive Club.
A native of Plainwell, Mich., Han earned her bachelor's degree in University Studies from New Mexico in 2013, where she was an All-American diver for the Lobos. She earned honorable mention All-America distinctions as a senior in 2012 on one-meter and earned Mountain West Conference Diver of the Year honors that season as well two conference championships, one on one-meter and one on three-meter. She served as a student assistant diving coach at New Mexico after exhausting her eligibility. Following her collegiate career, Han participated in Olympic Trials and World Championship trials and was a finalist on three-meter at the USA Diving National Championships in 2012 and 2016.
