TOLEDO, Ohio – Sophomores
Scott Mackiewicz and
Jeron Williams each tallied three hits and two RBIs to help Toledo (24-17) run its winning streak to nine games with a 7-4 non-conference triumph over Austin Peay (16-28) on Saturday afternoon at Scott Park.
Senior
John Servello also collected two hits and three RBIs as part of a 12-hit attack that saw the Rockets' 1-2-3 hitters combine to go 8-for-13 and drive in every UT run.
"Really happy to walk off the field today with another win," Head Coach
Rob Reinstetle said. "Our offense was good again, powered by the top of the order. We are playing really good baseball and need to stay focused. We have one more to finish this sweep of Austin Peay before we move onto a big week of conference play."
Senior
Jordan Power (5-2) earned the victory after allowing just one hit over his first five innings. He exited the contest holding a 6-4 lead with one out in the top of the sixth inning. Toledo's relievers
Brennan McCune,
Yianni Skeriotis and
Gavin Starcher held the Governors scoreless and allowed just three hits in the final 3.2 innings.
"Jordan was fantastic as the starter and our bullpen held them in check the rest of the way," Reinstetle said.
Toledo and Austin Peay will wrap up their three-game series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Scott Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Servello increased the Rockets' advantage to 6-0 with a double to left-center in the fourth.
- The Governors scored their only runs of the game in the top of the sixth to cut Toledo's lead to 6-4.
- Williams provided Toledo an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth almost singlehandedly. He reached on a one-out single up the middle and then stole second and third base. Mackiewicz drove him in with a sacrifice fly to center field.
