Lou Trois led the Toledo women's track & field distance runners in Friday's opening day of the Virginia Challenge. Overall, the Rockets had five top-10 finishes at the meet, including four personal-best times.
The Rockets finished 2-4-11 in the 10,000m race. Linga took second place with a time of 33:49.76, the third-best time in Toledo outdoor history. Senior
Stephanie Sherman came in fourth with a time of 34:07.29 (fourth-best all-time at UT), while junior
Claire Steigerwald finished 11th and set a personal best time at 35:05.16.
Senior
Semra Karaslan took second in the 3000m steeplechase invite. Her time of 10:05.94 was a personal-best and ranks No. 5 on the all-time Rocket list.
Sophomore
Lou Trois finished third in the 1500m with a personal-best time of 4:21.56, which is the fourth-best time in Toledo outdoor history.
Sophomore
Madeline Vining rounded out the top finishes for the Rockets with an eighth-place showing in the 5000m with a personal-best time of 16:24.00, which ranks sixth on Toledo's all-time outdoor list.
The Virginia Challenge will conclude tomorrow, and the Rockets will just compete in the 800m. Field events are scheduled for noon, while running events start at 12:30 p.m.
