TOLEDO, Ohio – Women's basketball head coach Tricia Cullop announced Wednesday that Akron forward Lonasia Brewer will transfer to the University of Toledo and join the Rockets' program for the 2022-23 season. Brewer will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"We are excited to welcome Lonasia Brewer to our Toledo Rocket family," Cullop said. "She has the ability to play multiple positions, is a strong rebounder and can stretch defenses with her range. When she visited, we knew she was a great all-around fit."

A 6-0 forward from Akron, Ohio, Brewer played in all 28 games for the Zips this past season, starting 26 contests. She averaged 7.6 PPG and 4.9 RPG, reaching double figures in scoring nine times this season. She scored a career-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting in Akron's 88-77 win at Ohio on Feb. 26. Brewer notched her first career double-double on Nov. 29 against Detroit Mercy, scoring 14 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. In MAC play, she averaged 7.8 PPG and 4.8 RPG while averaging 22.1 minutes per contest.

As a freshman in 2019-20, Brewer played in 28 games and averaged 2.1 PPG and 1.1 RPG while playing an average of just over eight minutes per game.

Brewer was a three-year letterwinner at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, earning Women's Tri-County Basketball Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year and earned Second-Team honors by the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association during her career. She averaged 13.6 PPG and 9.4 RPG in high school and averaged a double-double as a junior, scoring 15.0 PPG while grabbing 10.0 RPG.
