TOLEDO, Ohio – A school-record eight members of the Toledo women's basketball team have been named Academic All-MAC, the league office announced Tuesday.
Yaniah Curry,
Nan Garcia,
Khera Goss,
Halle Idowu,
Jayda Jansen,
Sammi Mikonowicz,
Hannah Noveroske, and
Sophia Wiard were all named Academic All-MAC honorees. This marks the second career honor for Curry and Wiard, and the first for the other six student-athletes.
Eight Academic All-MAC honorees are the most in program history and tied for second-most in the MAC this season. The previous school record was seven honorees set by the 2001-02 team.
Mikonowicz was one of just six women's basketball student-athletes in the MAC with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
