3/26/2022 9:54:00 PM

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team will host Middle Tennessee in the quarterfinals of the WNIT on Monday, March 28 at Savage Arena. The game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3.

Fans looking to attend the game can purchase tickets online at utrockets.com/WNITtix, over the phone by calling 419-530-GOLD (4653), or by visiting the Rocket Ticket Office at Savage Arena. The Rocket Ticket Office will be open on Sunday from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and again on Monday beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Toledo (29-5) advanced to the WNIT Quarterfinals by virtue of its impressive 92-82 road win over Marquette (23-11) on Thursday night. The Rockets trailed 74-70 entering the fourth quarter before junior guard Quinesha Lockett took the game into her own hands; she scored 21 of Toledo's 22 points in the final period to lead her team to victory. Lockett tallied a career-high 37 points on Thursday.

Toledo's 29 wins ties a school record for most victories in a season, matching win totals from the 2010-11 and 2012-13 squads. The 92 points UT scored on Thursday are a program record for most in a WNIT game and the most the team has scored against a Division I opponent since scoring 92 at Cleveland State on Nov. 19, 2016. The Rockets are playing in the quarterfinals of the WNIT for the first time since the 2011-12 season and the third time overall. Toledo won the 2011 WNIT championship title.

Middle Tennessee (26-7) has beaten Wofford, Wake Forest, and Vanderbilt on its way to the quarterfinals. The Blue Raiders trailed by 11 near the end of the first quarter against Vanderbilt, but came back to claim a 55-53 victory to advance into the quarterfinals.

The winner of Monday's game will advance to the semifinals and face the winner of the Columbia/Seton Hall game. That game is scheduled to tip off at 8:00 p.m. ET on Monday.

Notes from the Win over Marquette
  • Quinesha Lockett scored a career-high 37 points in the victory, her fifth-career 30-point game. She accounted for 21 of Toledo's 22 points in the fourth quarter.
  • Toledo scored 49 points in the first half, a season-high for first-half points.
  • Sophia Wiard was on fire, making 8-of-9 shots and scoring 20 points.
  • The Rockets shot 57.1% from the floor, tying a season high (vs. St. Francis, 12/8/21).
  • Toledo connected on 11-of-20 three pointers, its most efficient three-point shooting effort on the season and tied for the most threes in a game (vs. Loyola, at Ohio).
  • The 92 points scored were the most ever in program history in a WNIT game and the most against a Division I opponent since Nov. 19, 2016 at Cleveland State (92-59).
  • The Rockets shot at least 50% from the floor in all four quarters.

Record Watch
  • Toledo has tied program's single-season wins record with 29, a record shared by the 2010-11 and 2012-13 teams.
    • Only four MAC teams have won 30 games in a season:
      • 2006-07 Bowling Green (31)
      • 2017-18 Central Michigan (31)
      • 2018-19 Ohio (30)
      • 2013-14 Bowling Green (30)
  • Quinesha Lockett has set a new single-season Toledo record with 533 field goal attempts this season, eclipsing the previous record by former Rocket great Kim Knuth (508, 1998-99).
  • She's making her way up the single-season three-point field goal attempts list as well. Lockett is tied for seventh with 217 and 14 shots away from moving into second place.
  • Lockett is also climbing the single-season points list this year, currently sitting in sixth place (616). She is just four points away from moving into fourth place on that list.
  • Lockett's 215 made field goals are tied for seventh-most in a single-season and she is just seven away from moving into fourth place.
  • Sophia Wiard will most likely set the single-season record for minutes played during the game against Middle Tennessee. She has played 1,170 minutes this season and if she played 20 minutes against Middle Tennessee she will surpass the current single-season leader in Courtney Ingersoll (1,189 / 2011-12). Lockett has also cracked the Top 10 and currently sits in ninth with 1,125 minutes played.
  • Wiard's 84.5 free throw percentage is 10th on the single-season list and Hannah Noveroske is currently eighth on the single-season field goal percentage list (60.1%).
  • Notably, Wiard is currently the program's all-time leading free throw shooter at 83.5%, just ahead of Jane Roman (83.6%, 1989-92).
  • Sammi Mikonowicz is averaging 6.9 RPG for her career, eighth-best career rebounding average.
