KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Toledo baseball team lost both games of its doubleheader at Western Michigan on Sunday.
Originally scheduled to be a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning game, WMU captured the first contest by a score of 4-3 in eight innings. By virtue of the first game going to extras, the second game was changed to a seven-inning game, which the Broncos won 9-4.
Toledo had a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh in game one, but a two-out, game-tying single by Western Michigan pushed the game into extra innings. After Toledo was unable to push across a run in the top of the eighth, WMU won the game with an RBI double in the bottom half of the inning.
Game two was tied at 3-3 after four frames, but the Broncos' bats exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a commanding 8-3 lead that the Rockets could not overcome.
