Men’s Tennis Sweeps MAC Athlete of the Week Honors

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo swept the Mid-American Conference's men's tennis weekly awards this week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.. Sophomore Pawit Sornlaksup was named MAC Singles Player of the Week, and he also earned MAC Doubles Team of the Week with partner junior Marko Galic.
Sornlaksup contributed to the Rockets' three victories over UNOH (Feb. 23), IUPUI (Feb. 25) and Dayton (Feb. 27) last week. Sornlaksup was perfect on the No. 1 court, going 3-0 in singles competition and 3-0 in doubles competition with Galic.
Sornlaksup defeated Sergio Conde (UNOH), Colton Morehart (IUPUI), and Connor Bruce (Dayton) all in two sets. Sornlaksup has won his last eight singles matches.
Sornlaksup and Galic defeated Makil Omarkhanov/ Martin Stanchev of UNOH 4-3 (unfinished), Nicholas Moody/ Emil Jankowski of IUPUI 6-2, and Joe and Matt DeMarco of Dayton 6-0.
Sornlaksup and Galic received their first MAC Doubles Team of the Week honor. It marks the second time this season Sornlaksup has been honored as MAC Singles Player of the Week.
The Rockets have won five straight matches and are 6-4 this season and will head to Cleveland, Ohio for their final two non-conference matches on March 3 vs. Cleveland State at 10:00 a.m. followed by Holy Cross at 3:00 p.m.
