JT Shumate scores team-high 19 points and Setric Millner Jr. posts double-double with 18 points and 10 boards
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Four Rockets scored in double digits and Toledo shot 54.1 percent from the field to post an 84-72 victory over Vermont on Tuesday afternoon in Patrick Gymnasium.
"I'm very proud of the way we played a Vermont team which has won six straight conference titles and is hard to beat at home," Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk said. "Now we're going to take a much-needed break for the holidays and great ready for conference play in January."
Senior JT Shumate led the way for Toledo (8-4) with 19 points and was followed by senior Setric Millner Jr. (18 pts.), junior RayJ Dennis (16 pts.), and sophomore Dante Maddox Jr. (12 pts.).
Toledo (8-4) dominated the Catamounts (6-8) on the glass by a 42-26 margin with Millner leading the way with 10 boards for a double-double. Â Sophomore Ra'Heim Moss and Maddox also contributed eight and seven rebounds, respectively.
Dennis dished out a team-high five assists.
Dylan Penn topped the Catamounts with a game-high 20 points.
Toledo will take a short holiday break before returning to action on Thursday, Dec. 29 for its final non-conference contest vs. NAIA foe Lourdes Univ. Tip-off time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Savage Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
- Toledo used an early 7-0 run to take a 10-6 lead five minutes into the game.
- Back-to-back triples from JT Shumate and Andre Lorentsson highlighted a 10-0 run that put the Rockets in front 24-14 and forced Vermont to take timeout at the 9:59 mark.
- Shumate hit his third triple of the game to put Toledo ahead 34-24 just over four minutes before halftime.
- RayJ Dennis' two baskets in the final two minutes keyed a 6-0 Rockets' spurt that gave Toledo a 42-28 lead at intermission.
- Dennis and Shumate led UT in the half with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
- Toledo shot 51.5 percent in the opening 20 minutes and limited the Catamounts to a 32.3 mark.
- The Rockets' lead never dipped below eight points in the second half.
- The Catamounts rallied to within eight points on eight different occasions and Toledo had an answer each time.
- The Rockets led by double digits for the final 8:48 after going on a 6-0 run for a 74-60 cushion with 7:07 to play.
