KENT, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team nearly pulled off a comeback win with two goals in the second half, but Kent State scored the game-tying goal with 23 seconds on the clock to end the match in a 2-2 draw at Kent on Sunday.Â
"I feel for our team today," head coach TJ Buchholz said. "They did everything right to get a win and it didn't happen. Credit to Kent State for making a play at the end to tie it up. It is always hard to accept losing the lead at the end, but we did grab a point on the road. We have to build on that this week."
Kent State carried a 1-0 lead into halftime, until senior Morgan Otteson tied the game at the 72-minute mark from a pass by sophomore Mia Leonetti. With less than five minutes to play, the Rockets took their first lead of the game when Otteson took a shot from the side of the net and senior Madison Medalle connected on the rebound for the goal. Toledo looked like it was going to come away with its first MAC win, but Kent State's free kick turned into the tying goal with just 23 seconds left on the clock.
