Rockets' 2021-22 Schedule Finalized

TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo men's basketball program's 2021-22 schedule is complete with the release of its 20-game Mid-American Conference slate by the league office on Friday. The league schedule is subject to change due to the conference's television schedule still to be determined. Game times have been finalized for non-conference games with conference tip-off times to be determined.
 
Toledo will open its conference campaign in Savage Arena vs. Western Michigan on Tuesday, Dec. 28. The Rockets will face each conference school twice with the exception of Akron and Eastern Michigan. UT will host the Zips on Jan. 29 in Savage Arena and travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. to take on the Eagles on Feb. 1.

Toledo will play four of its first six league contests on the road and conclude its conference campaign with four of six games in Savage Arena, including its regular-season finale vs. arch-rival Bowling Green on March 4. The Rockets will face the Falcons in the Stroh Center on Jan. 15.

Toledo's remaining MAC home dates are vs. Northern Illinois (Jan. 8), Ball State (Jan. 18), Buffalo (Jan. 25), Akron (Jan. 29), Ohio (Feb. 8), Kent State (Feb. 15), Central Michigan (Feb. 19) and Miami (Feb.26).
 
The MAC Tournament will be held on March 10-12 at Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk has guided the Rockets to five 20-win campaigns in the last eight years. Toledo captured the MAC title last year, posting an overall record of 21-9 with a school-record 15-4 mark in league play. In addition, UT earned its 10th all-time NIT berth.
 
The Rockets return three starters with MAC Freshman of the Year Ryan Rollins (13.7 ppg, 5.2 rpg) leading the way. Juniors Setric Millner Jr. (12.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg), JT Shumate (11.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg) and Keshaun Saunders (6.8 ppg) are also back. Six freshmen are joining the team, along with Boise State transfer RayJ Dennis (8.6 ppg, 2.9 apg).

Toledo opens its 2021-22 campaign at Valparaiso on Nov. 9 as part of a non-conference schedule that will also see the Rockets travel to the Bahamas for the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship on Nov. 22-24 and visit Michigan State on Dec. 4. UT will open its home season against Detroit Mercy on Nov. 13.
