Bailey Flint Named to Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

TOLEDO, Ohio — University of Toledo senior punter Bailey Flint has been named to the official watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy. The award is presented annually to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement. It is the second consecutive season that Flint has been nominated for he award.

Flint has been Toledo's regular punter since 2017. He had his best season in 2019 when he was averaging 47.3 yards per punt until his season was cut short due to injury. He holds a bachelor's degrees in media communications and theater, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in liberal studies with a focus in theater. He is also on the watch list for the Ray Guy Award as the nation;s top punter.

Flint has been very active in community service in his time as a Rocket. He has participated in Victory Day, which offers special needs students a chance to be a spend an afternoon with the Rockets, in each of the past three years; the "Feed My Starving Children" program; "No One Eats Alone" program at Longfellow Elementary School in Toledo; after school program at Central Trail Elementary in Sylvania, Ohio; reading programs at REACH Academy; Dr. Seuss Day at Burroughs Elementary in Toledo; spelling bees and science fairs at Rosa Parks Elementary in Toledo; Toledo Boys and Girls Club; WTOL Holiday Toy Drive; free school lunch program in Toledo during recent school closures; "Welcome Back to School" day at Summit Academy in Toledo; the St. Francis of the Tejas food pantry; and the Fueling Tomorrows recruitment program at UToledo. In addition, Flint volunteers his time with punting lessons for local high school football players.

The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida. The formal announcement of the 2021 recipient will be made on December 9 and the presentation of the 2021 Wuerffel Trophy will occur in February 2022 in Fort Walton Beach
