7/28/2021 10:00:00 AM

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo senior Bailey Flint was named to the preseason watch list for the Ray Guy Award today, presented annually to the nation's best punter. Flint was also named to the watch list in 2020.

Flint has been Toledo's regular punter since 2017. He had his best season in 2019 when he was averaging 47.3 yards per punt until his season was cut short due to injury. He holds a bachelor's degrees in media communications and theater, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in liberal studies with a focus in theater.

The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Ga. native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy. In mid-November, the Ray Guy Award committee will meet to select 10 semifinalists, who will be announced on Nov. 10. A national body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, media representatives and previous Ray Guy Award winners will then vote for the top three finalists to be announced on Nov. 23. After the finalists are named, the voting body will cast ballots again to select the nation's top punter. The winner will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021.
