TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo battled hard against Central Michigan on Friday afternoon at Paul Hotmer Field but ended up on the short end of a 2-1 decision to the Chippewas.
Senior Sophia Lewis put the Rockets (0-3) on the board first when she broke free from the CMU defense 12 minutes into the game and put it in the net.
CMU (2-1) evened the contest at 1-1 at the 29' mark when Fotini Demetriou scored from about six feet out following a corner kick.
The Chippewas' Natalie Belsito netted the game-winner with 18:33 remaining.
Central Michigan held a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal with Toledo redshirt freshman Emma Boutorwick making six saves.
The Rockets are back in action again on Thursday, March 18 when they travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. to face Eastern Michigan.
