Rockets Head to Defiance for John Hartpence Invite on Friday

TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's track and field team will be competing in the John Hartpence Invitational in Defiance, Ohio on Friday, Feb. 12. This meet will be the last official competition of the season for the Rockets before the MAC Championships on Feb. 26.
"We are still in the process of deciding what events some of our athletes will compete in at the championships," stated Associate Head Coach Adrian Ghioroaie, who oversees the sprints, hurdles and jumping events. "Freshman Promise Cross in the high jump, Alexia Moehling in the hurdles, and Shianne Johnson in the sprints have been making major improvements in each competition so far this season."
Meanwhile, Meltem Yasar and Semra Karaslan will be traveling to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. to compete at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational starting on Saturday, Feb. 13. Yasar will be competing in the mile at 11:35 a.m. followed by Karaslan in the 3000m at 2:15 p.m. Both women will be attempting to run times that will qualify them for the NCAA Championships in March.
