TOLEDO, Ohio – Four members of the University of Toledo men's tennis team are in Tulsa, Okla. For the ITA All-American Championships. Marko Galic, Adam Kovac, Pawit Sornlaksup, and Krzysztof Wetoszka are representing the Rockets.
"This is a large opportunity that these guys have been looking forward to, and I can't blame them," head coach Al Wermer said. "All the best players in the country will be there, plus about 200 others hoping for a breakthrough. We have the capability to do some damage."
All four Rockets will start in the pre-qualifying round, which begins Saturday, Oct. 2 and continues into Sunday. Qualifying rounds will be held Oct. 4-5, and the main draw will be held Oct. 6-10. The University of Tulsa is hosting the entire event.
Toledo opened its fall season at home last weekend with the Rocket Invite, where the team fared well against Bellarmine, Case Western, Chicago, Kenyon, and Northwestern Ohio. Kovan and Sornlaksup were named All-Tournament for their performances last weekend. Kovac was 4-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles. Sornlaksup was 3-0 playing singles and 3-0 in doubles, winning twice while pairing with sophomore Vlad Meluta and once while playing with Wetoszka.
