TOLEDO, Ohio - Head Coach
Tod Kowalczyk announced the addition of guard
Jamere Hill (Joliet, Ill.), forward
Charles Jones (Detroit, Mich.), center
Jonathan Komagum (London, England), forward
Seth Millner (Little Rock, Ark.) and forward
JT Shumate (Newark, Ohio) to the University of Toledo men's basketball program on Wednesday. The quintet will join guard
Ryan Rollins (Macomb, Mich.), who signed a national letter of intent in November, as part of this year's recruiting class that will join the Rockets prior to the start of the 2020-21 academic year.
"We're really excited with this recruiting class and the impact it can make on our program," Kowalczyk said. "We have upgraded our athleticism, length and skill level. I can't wait to start working with them."
Kowalczyk added that he's also pleased about the experience this group possesses and that their arrivals will provide roster balance for his program. The Rockets' 2020-21 roster will now include two seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen in terms of athletic eligibility.
"This recruiting class gives us four veterans who have played two years of college basketball," Kowalczyk said. "They will provide us some maturity and leadership in addition to allowing us to even out our classes, which I think is really important."

A 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard, Hill earned Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Class 4A Second-Team All-State as well as Associated Press Class 4A Honorable Mention honors after averaging 17.7 ppg for a 29-4 Joliet West High School squad this season. He also was selected as Illinois' Most Improved Player by Chicagoland Prep Hoops and helped the Tigers to a 24-win improvement from his junior to senior season. He was named Southwest Prairie Conference MVP and his team was playing for a sectional title prior to the tournament being canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Â
"Jamere is an extremely talented guard," Kowalczyk. "He can play multiple positions and possesses great length. I love his defensive intensity and also the fact that he can score, especially late in the shot clock."
Â

Jones averaged 12.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 1.4 spg and registered a 35.4 three-point FG% (46-of-130) at Southwestern Illinois in Belleville, Ill. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound forward scored in double digits in 19 games, including six contests of 20 points or more.
Â
"Charles is a long wing who can stretch a defense with his shooting ability," Kowalczyk said. "He also will make an impact for us on the defensive end with his length and athleticism."

A 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward/center, Komagum came to the United States in 2017 and played one year at Taylor Made Academy in Avondale, Ariz. before spending the last two years at Williston State (N.D.) College. He averaged 10.9 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 2.0 bpg and 1.8 spg in league play for the Tetons this past season. Komagum registered double-digit scoring and rebounding outings on 12 and 19 occasions, respectively, including a 20-point, 15-rebound effort at Miles Community CollegeÂÂ.
"Jonathan has a 7-foot-2 wingspan and is an elite shot blocker and a very good rebounder," Kowalczyk said. "He will certainly will add a great deal to what we want to do defensively."
Â

Millner played one season as Cleveland State before attending Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Fla. this past year. The 6-foot-6, 200-pound forward averaged 14.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and 1.1 spg for the Raiders. Millner scored in double figures in 22 contests, including a season-high 24-point outing in his season finale. As a freshman at Cleveland State in 2018-19, he averaged 7.1 ppg and 4.7 rpg and tallied a season-high 22 points vs. Purdue Fort Wayne.
Â
"Seth can play multiple positions and will bring us a lot of toughness," Kowalczyk said. "He understands how to play the game and will add a great deal of value for us."
Â

A 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward, Shumate averaged 14.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg and 2.1 apg this past season at NCAA Division II member Walsh (Ohio) University. He earned second-team all-league honors after helping the Cavaliers to a 25-6 overall mark, the G-MAC Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance. As a freshman, Shumate earned G-MAC Freshman of the Year, first-team all-conference and NABC Second-Team All-Midwest District honors after ranking second in the conference with 18.7 ppg and shooting 43.6 percent (65-of-149) from three-point range.
Â
"JT is a tremendous shooter who had two very successful seasons at the Division II level," Kowalczyk said. "I think that experience will help him make a smooth transition to Division I. JT's very excited about having the opportunity to redshirt next season, because it will give him a chance to get stronger and learn our system."
