TOLEDO, Ohio -Â The University of Toledo softball team heads to Knoxville, Tenn. for a three-day tournament hosted by Tennessee Mar. 6 - 8. The Rockets begin the tournament with game against ETSU on Friday, Mar. 6 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a 12:30 p.m. game against Stanford. Toledo's matchup against Tennessee on Saturday wil air on SECN+.

ABOUT TOLEDO
The Rockets are off to a hot start this season at 9-4. Junior
Erin Hunt is credited with seven wins, while freshman
McKenna Schmidt has two. Hunt has thrown two one-hitters this season, and was named MAC Pitcher of the Week Feb. 19 and Mar. 3. Junior transfer
Dayna Denner is proving to be an immediate impact for Toledo, leading the team with a .364 batting average (16-for-44) and 13 RBIs. Denner has hit two homers, four doubles, and one triple in the first 13 games. Senior
Samantha Golden is providing for the Rockets at the plate, hitting two home runs with 10 RBIs. Freshman
Macey Moore also had an impressive showing, going 9-for-19 at the dish with seven RBIs.
SCOUTING ETSU
ETSU is coming off of a historic weekend, as the team beat Tennessee for the first time in program history at the 2020 Buccaneer Classic. The Bucs began the tournament with a 10-1 victory over the Golden Eagles from Tennessee Tech, picking up their first run-rule victory this season. ETSU then defeated the Lady Vols, walking off with a 4-3 victory. With the wins, ETSU improved to 6-10 on the season. The Bucs' victory over Tennessee ended The Vols' run of 100 consecutive victories over in-state opponents.Â
SCOUTING STANFORD
Stanford (18-3) finished a perfect weekend of play from the DeMarini Invitational, recording a 9-1 victory in five innings over Rhode Island. With the run-rule, Stanford has now recorded five consecutive victories via the run-rule - matching its longest run of such games since 2008. The Cardinal scored five runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Taylor Gindlesperger RBI-triple. Gindlesperger finished the game 1-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Taeghan Cowles went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Freshman Kaitlyn Lim capped a three-run second inning for the Cardinal with her third home run of the season.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE
Tennessee (9-7) is coming off a final day split at the Buccaneer Classic, falling to ETSU, 4-3, and beating Bowling Green, 9-3. Against Bowling Green, senior Chelsea Seggern went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, one run, and one stolen base. Redshirt-sophomore Samantha Bender earned her third win of the year behind a three-strikeout showing in a complete game effort. She gave up just three hits and three earned runs.
ON DECK
The Rockets will hit the road for their final tournament of the 2020 season, traveling to Madeira Beach, Fla. Mar. 10 - 14.
