Lauren Kilgore took home three individual wins against Bowling Green Friday and Saturday.

Rockets Defeat I-75 Rival Bowling Green, 199-154

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo swimming and diving team earned a 199-154 win over I-75 rival Bowling Green in its final dual meet of the season. Freshman Lauren Kilgore led the way for the Rockets with three individual first-place finishes, while sophomore Joelle Gallais scored an NCAA Zone Standard on the one-meter board.

"I am proud of the performances this weekend," said interim head coach Brie Globig. "The support I saw our team give each other throughout both days of competition was inspiring. We have a little more work to do before heading into taper and MACs. Our divers had standout performances, particularly with Joelle qualifying for zones on the one-meter board."

Kilgore finished day one with her ninth win this season, clocking the eighth-fastest time in program history in 400 IM finishing in 4:25.16. Kilgore was also a member of the first-place 200 free relay team. Joining teammates Lisa Eriksson, Ashley Jeffreys, and Kennedy Lovell, the team clocked a season-best 1:35.25.

Gallais scored an NCAA Zone Standard on the one-meter board on the first day of the two-day meet, scoring a season-best 278.40 for third.

Junior Izzy Jones and senior Duda Sales each added a win for the Rockets on the first day of competition. Jones clocked a season-best 1:48.88 in the 200 freestyle for first. Joining her in the top-three was Lovell who took second with a season- best 1:50.51. Sales won the 100 butterfly with a 56.12, while Kilgore took third with a season-best 56.80.

Sophomores Samantha Ekleberry and Jeffreys each clocked a season-best time in their respective events. Ekleberry placed third in the 500 freestyle with a 5:06.51, while Jeffreys placed second in the 100 backstroke with a 56.01. Junior Gracie Storm joined Jeffreys in the top-three of the 100 backstroke, placing third with a career-best 57.47.

Completing day one of the two-day dual meet with only four first-place finishes, the Rockets trailed the Falcons 95-91. Toledo entered day two ready to come back and take the victory. Toledo finished day two with seven first-place finishes, securing the 199-154 win.

Kilgore stepped up for the Rockets on day two, adding two more individual wins to her resume. The Niles, Mich. Native clocked a season-best 2:20.11 in the 200 breaststroke for first-place. Lovell joined Kilgore in the top-three, touching the wall in a career-best 2:20.54. Kilgore also won the 200 IM, while junior Alida Ramden placed second in a season-best 2:06.46. Kilgore was also a member of the first-place 400 free relay team. Alongside teammates Eriksson, Jones, and Lovell, the team clocked a season-best 1:30.00.

Freshman Ashley LeFever won her first individual event as a Rocket, taking first in the 100 freestyle with a season-best 53.20.

Jones, Lovell, and Sales took home a win each on day two. Jones clocked the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 1000 freestyle, touching the wall in 9:58.43 for first place. Ekleberry joined her in the top-three, taking second with a career-best 10:25.40. Lovell took first in the 50 freetyle, while Sales won the 200 butterfly.

The Rockets will begin their taper to prepare for the 2020 Mid-American Conference Championships in late February. The conference meet is set for Feb. 26 – 29 in Buffalo, N.Y.
