DAYTON, Ohio - The Toledo men's tennis team clinched victories over Wright State and Dayton in their first doubleheader of the season in Dayton, Ohio on Friday. The Rockets defeated Wright State, 6-1, before facing Dayton in the evening, where they edged out the Flyers, 4-3. 
 
"This was such an outstanding team win," said head coach Al Wermer. "These guys are all in this together and they're for each other every minute. They want their teammates to win even more than themselves." 
 
In the morning session against the Raiders, the Rockets quickly picked up the doubles point with 6-2 wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts from senior Danilo Vukotic/junior Filip Zupancic and sophomore Cole Shoults/freshman Krzysztof Wetoszka, respectively. In singles play, Wetoszka, freshman Luis Kleinschnitz, and Zupancic posted two-set victories from the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 courts. On the No. 2 court, Shoults locked into a three-set battle against Alessandro Tabraes, winning the first set 6-4, before dropping the second 4-6. Shoults emerged victorious from the third set, 6-4. Freshman Max Skaer also fought through a three-set battle, taking the first set 6-2 before dropping the second 2-6. Skaer clinched the win on the No. 6 court after posting a 7-6(5) victory in the third set. 
 
The Rockets faced Dayton in the evening, dropping the doubles point early. In singles action Vukotic, Kleinschnitz, and Zupancic swept their opponents in two sets while Wetoszka fought Matt DeMarco in three. Wetoszka dropped the first set, 3-6, before bouncing back to take the second, 7-5, and the third, 6-4, to seal the Rockets' victory.
