TOLEDO, Ohio –The Toledo softball team will be honored at a pre-game ceremony during batting practice in a Detroit Tigers game vs. the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The celebration is scheduled to take place at approximately 5:15 p.m.
"To be recognized at a Tigers game as the MAC Tournament champs is going to be just awesome for our players," said second-year head coach Joe Abraham. "We take loads of knowledge from baseball and transfer it to our game, so we appreciate the Tigers extending their relationship with the City of Toledo and treating Toledo Softball as part of their family."
Fans will have the opportunity to take pictures from the stands and join in the celebration as the Rockets are recognized on the field.
The Rockets won the 2019 Mid-American Conference Softball Tournament title last year, beating No. 1 seeded Miami and No. 3 seeded Ohio in dramatic fashion during the tournament. Erin Hunt, Katie Cozy, and Kaitlyn Bergman earned All-Tournament accolades for their efforts on the field that brought the team their first tournament title in program history.
Attending the celebration on Sept. 25 will be players Leah Allison, Raquel Emery, Samantha Golden, Erin Hunt, Rebecca Johnson, Maggie McGurk, Kailey Minarchick, Morgan Paaverud, Aubrey Reed, Bri Robeson, Sophia Schwegel, Taylor Weekly, and Rebekah Yenrick. Also joining them on the field will be head coach Joe Abraham and staff Ryan Schalk, Paige McMenemy, and Jim Zoltowski.
