Toledo Will Host Education Day Against Belmont on Dec. 3

9/17/2019 11:07:00 AM

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo will host its annual Rocket Women's Basketball Education Day on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in conjunction with its non-conference matchup against Belmont at 11:00 a.m. in Savage Arena.

Tickets are $4.00 per person for schools participating in the annual event. In addition, admission will be free to students who complete the Rocket Basketball Reading Program by Monday, Nov. 11 at 5:00 p.m.

Seating for Education Day will be general admission and based on availability. The Rockets encourage all groups to purchase their tickets early to secure lower bowl seating. Once the lower bowl seating is filled, orders will be placed in Upper East seating.

Every participating school will receive a unique Rocket Educational Digital Workbook for its students and teachers that are appropriate for their class grade and educational level. The workbook will be designed so teachers can use them in the classrooms while showing the students the importance of what they learn in the classroom and how it relates to sports.

Activities planned for the day include a K-9 demonstration by the UToledo Police Department, a space demonstration from the Ritter Planetarium, a senior design project demonstration by the UToledo College of Engineering and various education activities from the Toledo Athletic Department, to name a few.

Additionally, Toledo is offering box lunches for $6.00 that will include choice of sandwich (ham & cheddar, turkey & swiss or beef & cheddar), a piece of whole fruit, individual bags of potato chips, assorted cookies and bottled water.

Along with Education Day, the Rockets are hosting a Rocket Reading Program, which will be broken up into two groups, Grades K-3 and 4-8. The goal is for children in Grades K-3 to read a minimum of 10 books and in Grades 4-8 to read 10 chapters between Sept. 1-Nov. 11. The reward for those who complete the program is one FREE non-premium ticket to the women's basketball game vs. Belmont on Dec. 3 or a men's basketball contest against Robert Morris on Nov. 16 or Howard on Nov. 17.

Toledo opens the 2019-20 season at 2019 Postseason WBI participant Georgia State on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Four days later, the Rockets entertain 2019 Postseason WNIT participant Dayton in their home opener at 2:00 p.m. in Savage Arena.
