BOLOGNA, Italy – The Toledo women's basketball team shopped until it dropped in Florence on Tuesday during its third day in Italy.
The Rockets made the two-hour bus ride through the mountains and countryside to Florence in the late morning, where they had the chance to explore the city and shop.
"Florence was so full of history, monuments and churches," Head Coach
Tricia Cullop said. "There was such an amazing culture there. Our players really enjoyed that, as well as the opportunity to shop. It was a very nice free day."
Sophomore
Jaela Johnson agreed, "Florence was so pretty. I really enjoyed looking at all of the museums, churches and art. As for shopping, there seemed to be a ton of options and I felt like we looked at a majority of them."
After traveling back to Bologna, the Rockets reviewed the tape from last night's 76-61 exhibition triumph against the Bologna All-Stars.
Toledo then wrapped up its third day with a five-course dinner with senior
Mariella Santucci's family at the Hotel Centergross.
"This dinner was very special to me," Cullop said. "The highlight of this trip so far for me was spending this evening with Mariella's family. The whole purpose of this trip was to give back to them. We are so grateful to her family. It meant a lot for us to come here and experience Italy."
Tomorrow, the Rockets will get up early and travel by Fast Train to Naples. Upon arrival in Naples, Toledo will make its way to Sorrento by bus for the first of three days there.
