Toledo, Ohio – Head Coach
Tod Kowalczyk announced on Wednesday that 6-11, 210-pound forward
Gavin Bizeau (Plainfield, Ind.)Â is transferring to the University of Toledo from Duquesne University. Bizeau will become eligible to play for the Rockets in the 2020-21 campaign and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Â
"We're excited to have Gavin become a member of our Rocket family," Kowalczyk said. "Gavin is an extremely skilled, athletic player who has a really good upside. He possesses really good perimeter skills and is someone who can put the ball on the floor and can pass it. Gavin reminds me a lot of when
Luke Knapke joined our program. He just needs to get stronger and develop some back-to-the-basket skills. That's what we're going to have him do while he is sitting out next season."
Â
Bizeau played in 20 games, including 13 of 18 conference contests, for the Dukes. He tallied seven points in eight minutes vs. Saint Louis followed by an eight-point effort in 16 minutes vs. VCU that included a pair of three-point field goals.
Â
Bizeau enjoyed a stellar prep career at Plainfield High School. He averaged 21.6 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocked shots per game as a senior to help the Quakers to a 13-10 record and back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2007-08 and 2008-09. He was ranked 44th nationally among centers and in the Top 12 in the state of Indiana by 247 Sports. Bizeau also earned a spot on the 13-man IndyStar Indiana All-Star Team and was selected to the 2018 IBCA/Subway All-State "Supreme 15" Team. As a junior, Bizeau averaged 15.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game as a junior to earn a spot on the IndyStar Indiana Junior All-Star team and Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Junior All-Star team.
