Rockets Set to Compete at MAC Championships

Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo women's swimming and diving team will head to Akron, Ohio this week to compete in the 2019 Mid-American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. Hosted by the University of Akron, competition runs Feb. 27-March 2 in the Ocasek Natatorium. Participating teams include: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Miami, Ohio and Toledo.

Morning prelims for all four days of the meet will be streamed live via the links below. Afternoon finals will be shown online on ESPN3. Fans interested in attending are encouraged to check out championship central for all information regarding the meet, including ticket pricing. 2018 MAC Championship Recap
The Rockets ended the 2018 MAC championships in sixth place with 254 points. The Rockets had a 14-point improvement over 2017's score, and moved up one spot in the team standings. Sophomore Izzy Jones earned second team All-MAC honors for the second consecutive year as well.

UT recorded eight new entries into the program's all-time top-10 list this week, and nine Rockets recorded personal bests throughout the week. Three Rockets also swam NCAA B-cut times.

The Rockets have 12 active athletes who are currently on Toledo's all-time top-10 performance lists. Three of those athletes are freshmen this season, three are sophomores, four are juniors, and two are seniors.

Jones is first in the 200-yard back (1:56.10), third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.95), fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:47.79) and second in the 100-yard back (54.57).
O'Sullivan is sixth in the 200-yard back (1:59.78) and third in the 100-yard back (54.80).
Jeffreys is seventh in the 100-back (55.85)
Straszacker is eight in the 100-back (56.47)
Storm is tenth in the 200-back ( 2:02.64)
Welke is sixth in the 100-yard breast (1:02.85).
Avery is fourth in the 100-yard breast (1:01.71), third in the 200-yard breast (2:12.99) and seventh in the 100 medley (1.02.61).
