South Bend, Ind. – The University of Toledo women's track and field team wrapped the first day of Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 60m dash preliminary by senior Shanice Williams. Williams qualified for Saturday's semifinals with a time of 7.48. Senior Christina Johnson also qualified for the 60-meter semifinals with a time of 7.79, which was good enough for 18th place.

Senior Nautica Hill landed in the top 10 in the 200 meters, clocking a time of 24.87. In the 5000m event junior Stephanie Sherman led the Rockets, landing 11th (17:23.55), while sophomores Riley Kwiatkowski and Michelle Hostettler took 22nd (17:37.58) and 23rd (17:37.77), respectively.

In the field events, junior Atalia da Silva took seventh in the high jump with a leap of 1.60 meters, and senior Katie Dewey landed 11th in the weight throw with a toss of 17.54 meters.

"We had a good start to the weekend tonight," said head coach Linh Nguyen. "In the field events, Katie and Atalia both had solid performances. Shanice and Christina looked good in the 60-meter prelims. Nautica ran a great race in the 200 meters, and the women in the 5K all ran personal bests or were very close. I'm excited to see what we can do tomorrow."

The Meyo Invitational will resume Saturday morning. Toledo's first event will be the 60-meter semifinals at 10:05 a.m.
