TOLEDO, Ohio – Three incoming student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to join the Toledo women's swimming and diving program, interim head coach

"We are excited to welcome Nejla and Sydney to the Toledo swimming family," said Globig. "Their strength in freestyle will bring further depth to our team in all of the freestyle events. Additionally, Sydney's speed and versatility in butterfly will maintain Toledo's excellence in that stroke."Â

Sydney Conrad competed for the Guelph Marlins Aquatic Club in Guelph, Ont. Conrad placed fourth in the 100 butterfly at the 2019 Speedo Western Canada Championships. At the 2019 Summer Ontario Swimming Championships, she took second in the 200 butterfly, fourth in the 100 butterfly, and sixth in the 50 freestyle. Conrad participated at the 2019 Age Group Internationals, 2018 OFSAA Championships, Ontario Summer LC Championships, Ontario Junior Internationals, and 2017 Canadian Junior Swimming Championships. Conrad comes to Toledo as the eighth-ranked swimmer in Ontario.

Nejla Karic is a freestyler from the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Swimming Federation in Bosnia & Herzegovina under Evelin Avdic. Karic holds four individual national records and is a member of five relay teams that set national records. In 2017, Karic set the national mark in the 800 and 1500 long-course freestyle at the Susret Reprezentacija and Winter Championships of Bosnia and Herzegovina, respectively. Karic also set the national record in the 800 and 1500 short-course freestyles at the Championships of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Karic is a member of three long-course relay team national records. Karic swam anchor in the 400 free relay at the Susret Reprezentacija and the 400 medley relay at the Susret Reprezentacija Bih-Hr-Slo-Srb, in addition to the opening leg of the 800 free relay at the Junior Balkan Games. She also holds national records in the 4X50 free and medley short-course relays, both set at the Championships of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Karic is at the top of the Bosnia and Herzegovina age group record lists as well in the 200, 400, 800, and 1500 freestyles in both the long- and short-course.

In addition to both swimmers, the Rockets will welcome one diver to the roster in the fall.

Madison Giglio comes to Toledo from Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Ill. Giglio competed at the 2019 U.S.A. Diving Rising Stars Championships, placing ninth on the one-meter board and 16th on the three-meter board. The Orland Park, Ill. native competed at the 2019 Illinois-Wisconsin Association Championships, taking fourth on the one-meter board with a score of 311.50. Giglio was a 2019 U.S.A. Diving Junior Region 7 Championship participant.

Gabby Agostino. "She has great potential and is a really hard worker. Toledo was the perfect fit for Madison academically and athletically. She will be a great addition to our team and we cannot wait to see what she can do."
