TOLEDO, Ohio— Toledo senior defensive lineman Nate Childress (Rossford, Ohio) has been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Childress will now be on the ballot for Academic All-America, which will be announced on Dec. 9. Last season, former Rocket Cody Thompson was named Second-Team Academic All-America, the ninth player in program history to earn that distinction.
An Academic All-MAC honoree in 2018, Childress graduated in May 2019 with a degree in marketing, earning a 3.35 GPA. He is currently pursuing his MBA and holds a 3.67 GPA in graduate school.
A 2019 team captain, Childress has started 32 straight games at defensive tackle for the Rockets. He has 21 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and two pass breakups on the season. Earlier this season he blocked a punt against Western Michigan, the third blocked kick of his career. Â
