TOLEDO, Ohio - Former Rocket Jaelan Sanford was selected in the second round of the 2019 NBA G-League Draft. Sanford was selected by the Auga Caliente Clippers with the No. 36 overall pick. The four-round, 112-pick draft took place on Saturday (Oct. 26) afternoon.
 Â
Sanford concluded his Rocket career ranked fifth on UT's all-time scoring list with 1,789 points. He also ranks first in games started (133), tied for first in games played (133) and fourth in three-point field goals (238).
An Evansville, Ind. native, Sanford earned first-team All-MAC honors this season after receiving second-team All-MAC accolades as a junior. He paced the Rockets in scoring with 15.5 ppg and ranked second with 3.2 apg, a 1.7 assist/turnover ratio, 75 free throws made and 89 free throws attempted. He also ranked first in the MAC with an 84.3 free-throw percentage and topped the Rockets with 26 double-digit scoring contests.

WHICH PLAYERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO GET DRAFTED?
Every fall, 100+ players are signed by the league office and placed in the NBA G League Draft pool, including NBA and NBA G League vets, international pros and prospects, undrafted rookies and NBA G League National Tryout players. Players must be 18 years old to be eligible for the NBA G League Draft, as opposed to the NBA's age minimum of 19.
Â
Players are eligible to be selected in the 2019 NBA G League Draft if they signed a contract with the NBA G League by Oct. 21 (for players who weren't in NBA training camps) or Oct. 24 (for players who were in NBA training camps) and their rights are not held by an NBA G League team. Players who participated in NBA Training Camp and were designated as affiliate players are not draft-eligible. They are allocated directly to the NBA team's NBA G League affiliate.
Many of the top picks arrive days before the draft after either arriving from overseas or being waived by NBA teams.
