Kennedy Lovell Leads the Way for the Rockets Against Akron

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving team traveled to Akron, Ohio to take on the Zips on Friday, where Akron took home the victory, 200-102. Redshirt freshman Kennedy Lovell led the way for the Rockets taking home three first-place finishes.Â
"We had many standout performances tonight from our swimmers and divers," said head coach Brie Globig. "We competed against a lot of talent, which pushed us to be our best. We have started our season strong and will look to continue to build on it."
Lovell took first in the 100 and 200 freestyle and the 200 IM. Joining Lovell in the top-three of the 100 free was junior Lisa Eriksson who took third. Freshman Lauren Kilgore and sophomore Kendra Polewski finished behind Lovell in the 200 free at third and fifth, respectively. Junior Alida Ramden joined Lovell in the top-three of the 200 IM, placing third.
Junior Izzy Jones had a strong performance in the water on Friday, taking first in both backstrokes for the Rockets. Sophomore Ashley Jeffreys took fifth in both backstroke events, while junior Gracie Storm took fourth in the 200 back.
Sophomore Joelle Gallais had strong performances for the Rockets in the diving well, taking third on the three-meter board and fourth on the one-meter board. Gallais' scores of 249.68 in the three-meter and 240.98 in the one-meter are both season-bests.
The Rockets will return to the water on Friday, Nov. 8 as they welcome Florida Gulf Coast and Marshall for a tri-meet at the UToledo Student Recreation Center. The meet is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
