Rockets Close Fall '18 Semester with 3.63 GPA

Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team closed out the fall 2018 semester on a high note, earning a 3.63 team GPA while seeing 11 student-athletes record a 4.0.

"We are very proud of our teams' tremendous work in the classroom this fall," head coach TJ Buchholz said. "To have an overall team GPA of 3.63 and 11 players achieve a perfect 4.0 is outstanding. I am very thankful to coach such a driven team, on and off the field."

Buchholz and the Rockets work closely with UT's Student-Athlete Academic Services staff throughout the year to help improve their academic success.

"The best thing about being an academic coordinator at the University of Toledo is that every day brings new victories and achievements," Academic Coordinator Jillian Lehman said. "Our student-athletes work very hard both academically and athletically. It is rewarding to be a part of their college careers and witness their success. I am honored to work with such a great group of student-athletes."

As a department, UT earned a combined grade point average of 3.247 in the 2018 fall semester. It is the second-highest fall term GPA in school history and the eighth consecutive semester in which UT student-athletes have earned a semester GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Thirteen UT varsity sports compiled a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, with eight squads cracking the 3.5 mark. Women's Volleyball set the pace with a team GPA of 3.751, followed by Women's Swimming & Diving (3.638), Women's Soccer (3.631) and Women's Tennis (3.608).

This past semester, 46 UT student-athletes earned President's List honors (4.0 GPA), second only in school history to the 49 Rockets who had perfect GPAs in the spring of 2016. In addition, 44 percent (165 of 375) earned a spot on the Dean's List by garnering at least a 3.50 GPA.
