McIntyre Garners MAC West Division Player of the Week Recognition

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior Kaayla McIntyre has been recognized as the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. McIntyre's selection marks the first time this season a Rocket has been picked as the division's top performer.
McIntyre, who is receiving this prestigious award for the third time as a Rocket, averaged 16.0 points, a team-high 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, a squad-best 3.5 rejections and 0.5 steals in a pair of double-digit road victories this past week. The Toledo native also connected on a team-tying best 61.9 percent (13-of-21) from the field and 75.0 percent (6-of-8) from the free throw line in 28.0 minutes.Â
In Wednesday's 23-point triumph at Western Michigan, McIntyre had 17 points and a game-high 10 boards. Three days later in UT's 14-point win at arch-rival Bowling Green, the 2017-18 third-team All-MAC honoree contributed 15 points, a contest-best 10 caroms and a season-high five rejections to post her second-straight double-double, third overall this year and 12th as a Rocket.
Overall this year, McIntyre is contributing a team-high 15.3 points, a squad-best 7.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, a team-best 1.6 blocks and 0.8 steals in 27.6 minutes. The 2018-19 team captain currently ranks tied for first in the MAC in rejections, second in overall field-goal percentage (.575, 100-of-174), tied for sixth in overall rebounding, tied for seventh in defensive boards (5.2 rpg), 10th in scoring, 13th in free throw percentage (.698, 44-of-63) and 15th in offensive caroms (2.0 rpg).
In MAC contests, McIntyre is tallying a team-high 15.4 ppg, a squad-best 8.4 rpg, 1.4 apg, a team-best 2.0 bpg and 1.4 spg in 27.8 mpg.
Dating back to last season, McIntyre has registered double-digit points in 29-consecutive contests.
McIntyre and the Rockets (11-5, 3-2 MAC) will battle MAC West Division frontrunner Central Michigan (13-4, 4-1 MAC) tomorrow at home. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be shown on ESPN+.
The Rockets are currently tied for second in the MAC West Division standings with Northern Illinois, one game behind the defending MAC Champion Chippewas.
