Buffalo, N.Y. - Toledo freshmen divers
Joelle Gallais and
Sydney Jackson wrapped up day one of the University at Buffalo Diving Invitational this afternoon. Both Rockets put up strong efforts in the morning 1-meter preliminaries, but neither advanced to the 1-meter finals.
"There were some ups and downs today but overall I am happy with how it went, especially since Joelle and Sydney competed some new dives for the first time," diving coach
Gabby Agostino said. "Overall it was a good first day and we're looking forward to getting back after it tomorrow morning."
Jackson was the top Rocket on day one, finishing in 12th place with 222.95 points. Her effort edged out Gallais, who took 13th after earning a score of 221.35. Only the top eight divers advance to the finals.
Ohio's Olivia Dillon advanced to take first overall on day one, earning a score of 264.50. She was followed by Buffalo divers Jae Sarkis (251.15) and Journi Northorp (243.95).
Toledo returns to the boards again tomorrow morning for 3-meter competition. Prelims kick off at 11:00 a.m. with finals following immediately after. Fans can follow the action live on Dive Meets
