Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team (3-2-1) fell 2-1 to Detroit Mercy (2-3-1) in a double overtime thriller today at Scott Park. The Rockets' lone goal came from senior captain Hannah Scafaria who now has six on the year.

"Credit to Detroit, they're a great team," head coach TJ Buchholz said. "They did an awesome job defensively absorbing a lot of our pressure. I think we got in some good moments but we just couldn't put it away. Their goalkeeper was fantastic too. She just had an unbelievable game, she's one of the best goalkeepers by far we've seen this season. We had a breakdown in overtime and we gave them that window of opportunity to score so it's disappointing."

The Rockets got on the board early on thanks to Scafaria. The Kalamazoo, Mich. native slipped past the defense in the fifth minute and received a pass from sophomore Sophia Lewis. Scafaria ran it in close and fired it past Detroit Mercy's Marina Manzo to make the score 1-0.

The Rockets kept the pressure on following the assault, putting on a number of shots but were ultimately unable to find the back of the net.

Toledo conceded its first goal of the match in the 29th minute. The Titans' Molly Kane received the ball from Julie Ann Piechocki down the left sideline and was able to place it left of sophomore goalkeeper Madison Perrin. The Rockets pushed hard to close out the first half but were unable to answer.

The second half saw Toledo turn on the heat and start putting more chances near frame. The Rockets fired 10 shots at net, but Manzo and her side were able to deal any of the chances. Toledo mostly kept the Titans out of the attacking third in the second half too, limiting Detroit Mercy to five shots.

Few opportunities arose in the first intermission of overtime, with the Rockets registering the only two shots of the period.

Flipping to the second overtime period, the match looked like it was going to end in mutual handshakes until the 108th minute when Piechocki won the ball on the left touchline and ran it through the Toledo defense, finishing with a strong shot that went untouched passed Perrin.
