Athena Welsh Selected as MAC Runner of Week

TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior Athena Welsh has been selected as a Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week. It is the first time in Welsh's collegiate career she has earned the award.
Welsh received the honor after finishing first in the Toledo Opener last Friday with a 14:21.5 4K time.
The Rockets placed four in the top five as a team, with Welsh leading the way closely followed by freshman Claire Steigerwald (14:22.8). Senior Jennifer Lichter secured fourth with a time of 14:23.9 and senior Petronela Simiuc took fifth with a finishing time of 14:24.1.
The Rocket women placed first overall with a team score of 21, leaving a 44-point margin between first and second place (Ohio, 65 points).
The Toledo women's cross country team will visit Bowling Green on Friday at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener at 5:35 p.m.
