Toledo
The Rockets have finished above the .500 in each of their three weekend tournament en route to a 10-5 overall record. Toledo won its first three games of the season before dropping the final two games of Dot Richardson's NCSI to begin the year. UT strung together five-straight wins to take its record to 8-3. The Rockets battled No. 5 Tennessee in Knoxville and led the Volunteers in the third inning before falling 6-1. UT won two games over Charleston Southern to reach the 10-win mark.
The strength of the Rockets has been their pitching. Toledo's 1.60 combined ERA is good for 25th-best in the country. Juniors Kailey Minarchick and Heather Webb both have five wins on the year and have allowed just nine earned runs in 39+ innings of work.
Offensively, UT is led by freshman Kylie Norwood with 15 hits and an even .300 average. Freshman Bailey Curry leads the club with three home runs, including a grand slam in Sunday's win over CSU.
Seattle
The Redhawks have lost four of their last six games and are 11-9 on the season. Five of Seattle's nine losses have come by one run, including defeats at the hands of Notre Dame and Nebraska. The Redhawks split a pair of games against Montana and defeated Weber State, 7-1, in the Red Desert Classic over the weekend. The Rockets will play both teams in the Oregon Invitational on Friday, March 9.
The Redhawks have scored over 5.5 runs per game thanks in part to the home run ball. SU averages almost a home run per game and ranks in the top 50 in the category. Seattle is led by Madison Cathcart in average (.458), home runs (10), RBIs (23), doubles (7), slugging (1.085), on-base percentage (.579) and walks (14). Cathcart's 10 home runs ranks tied for second in the country.
Portland State
The Vikings enter their midweek double header with Toledo on a seven-game losing streak and losers of 12 of their last 13. Five of the Vikes loses have been called after five innings due to the run rule. PSU's two wins came in the season opener over Sam Houston State, 8-2, and against New Mexico State, 6-5, in the UTEP Tournament.
Darian Lindsey and Kaela Morrow lead the team with 10 hits each with a .313 and .250 averages, respectively. The Vikings struggles come in the circle where the team has a combined 8.17 ERA and allows over eight runs per game.
