Toledo, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving team returned to the pool today for the annual Blue & Gold and Alumni intrasquad meet. The Gold team won, beating out the Blue team 112-100.
 
"It's always good to see the freshmen racing and see what they can do," head coach Jonas Persson said. "I was excited to see Jessica Avery and Jordyn Polderman come back after being out last year; they did really well today. It's good to get a meet under our belt. We're going to keep on building on the excitement of today and get ready to rock and roll."
 
The meet also allowed assistant diving coach Gabby Agostino to get a first look at some of her new divers before the first official competition of the year, notably freshman Joelle Gallais. Gallais won both the 3- and 1-meter diving events today.
 
"It was really nice to see Joelle compete because she's a freshman," Agostino said. "I would've liked to see everyone compete today but we've been dealing with some injuries. Heading into the first meet, I'm excited to see them compete and put all of their dives together."
 
Up Next
The Rockets officially open their season on Friday, Oct. 19 when Findlay and Indianapolis come to town. The meet is set to start at 5:00 p.m. at the UT Student Rec Center.
