Scouting the Opponent
Ball State: The Cardinals are 3-1 in conference play entering Thursday's tilt with Toledo, with opponents hitting just .178 against them. The last two wins have been sweeps against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan at home. Ball State is averaging a MAC-best 3.00 blocks per during conference matches, and setter Amber Seaman leads the league with 11.29 assists per set. Â
Akron: The Zips were picked to finish last in the MAC preseason coaches' poll, though they held a record of 8-3 before entering conference play. Akron is still searching for its first MAC win, however, after falling to Miami, Bowling Green, Kent State, and Ohio. The Zips sit in the middle of the pack in the conference in most statistical categories except for service aces, where they rank first at 1.60 per set. Defensively, though, they rank last in blocks per set (1.36) and second to last in digs per set (14.62).
