Rockets Set For Home/Away Week Against EMU, CMU

Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team (6-5-1, 2-2-0 MAC) is set to continue Mid-American Conference play this week with matches against Eastern Michigan (7-6-0, 2-2-0 MAC) and Central Michigan (5-7-0, 3-1-0 MAC). The Rockets travel to EMU Thursday for a 4:00 p.m. matchup. UT then returns to Scott Park on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. contest against the Chippewas.
 
Fans in attendance of Sunday's match will receive free pizza courtesy of The Original Gino's Pizza. Fans will also have the opportunity to score a goal from midfield for the chance to win $250 courtesy of SuperFanU.
 
Last time out
The Rockets are coming off of a weekend split against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. Toledo fell 3-2 to the Broncos on Friday in a closely contested battle that saw senior captain Hannah Scafaria net two goals in three minutes. 
 
In Sunday's contest, the Rockets won 5-1 over the Huskies. The win was the second largest margin of victory all season for UT and featured goals from seniors Regan Price and Scafaria along with freshman Elbony Rodriguez. Sophomore Sophia Lewis scored two goals in a 10-minute span in the second half, and assisted in two as well.
 
Scouting Toledo
The Rockets are led by Scafaria, who has netted 11 goals through 12 games, including a hat trick against UIC on Aug. 26. Scafaria set a new career record for most goals last weekend after finding the back of the net three times. Scafaria's goal makes her the fourth Rocket in program history to score 11 goals in a season, and the first since Rachel MacLeod did it in 2011.
 
The senior is currently ranked third in the nation for total goals, 11th for total points (23), and fifth in goals per game (0.92). Scafaria's 11 goals also pace the conference, with Buffalo's Carissima Cutrona sitting behind her with eight. The captain is also second in the MAC for points and points-per-game (23 points/1.92 avg.)
 
Sophomores Sophia Lewis has been getting into the mix lately, as well. Lewis has three goals and five assists on the year. The forward is averaging a .562 SOG percentage through 11 starts.
 
Sophomore Madison Perrin has been Toledo's main goalkeeper this year. Perrin holds a 5-4-1 record with two shutouts, a .755 save percentage, and a 1.29 GAA through 10 starts.
 
Last time against Eastern Michigan
Toledo and the Eagles last met for Toledo's sixth conference matchup of the 2017 season, a 4-1 Rocket victory. Scarfia scored two goals in both halves of the game, bouncing one shot in the box and another goal shot into the left side with an assist from Regan Price. Isa Echeverri and Chiara Paradiso also put up goals to add to the Rockets' line.
 
Scouting Eastern Michigan
The Eagles are coming off a weekend split against Akron and Buffalo. EMU won 1-0 over Akron on Friday off a goal from Sabrina McNeill six minutes into overtime. The goal was her fourth of the season. On Sunday, EMU fell 2-1 in overtime to the Bulls. The Eagles opened scoring in the 28th minute thanks to Alia Frederick but Carissima Cutrona tied it 20 minutes later for the Bulls. The match was grind from that point, with Buffalo not netting the winning goal until the 99th minute.
 
The Eagles are led by Kristen Nason and McNeill. Nason leads scoring with five goals and two assists through 13 appearances. McNeill is right behind with four goals and three assists through 13 matches. EMU's main goalkeeper has been Kaylin Williams who's started 11 out of 13 games, recording three shutouts. Williams holds a 1.31 GAA and .795  save percentage with a 7-5-0 record.
 
Last time against Central Michigan
The Rockets and Chippewas last saw each other on Oct. 5, 2017. CMU won 5-0 that day in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The day was highlighted by Lexi Pelafas, who scored a hat trick.
 
Scouting Central Michigan
The Chippewas split last weekend in games vs. Buffalo and Akron. On Friday against Buffalo, CMU lost 2-0 after conceding goals 20 seconds into the match and in the 81st minute. CMU bounced back on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over the Zips. Madison Costner chipped the keeper in the 47th minute after winning a rebound in the 18-yard box to score her fourth goal of the season.
 
CMU is led by Pelafas who has six goals and three assists on the season through 12 starts. She's backed by Shannon Magnan and Costner, Magnan has three goals and five assists through 12 starts while Costner has four goals and two assists through 10 starts.
 
Time between the sticks has been evenly split between Brianna Wallbridge and Morgan Britain. Wallbridge is 3-3-0 with two shutouts and holds a 1.11 GAA and .650 save percentage. Britain is 2-4-0 with one shutout and holds a 2.17 GAA and .675 save percentage.
